Jana Melpolder has been connected to the vast Harper Hill Global’s family for two years, serving first as the organization’s Social Media Manager. She traveled to Tanzania in 2019 to participate in the Women Arise training alongside her colleagues from Nigeria, Uganda, Namibia, and more. She is thrilled to now serve on the board and can’t wait to see the next chapter for Harper Hill Global.
Her multicultural background in diversity and inclusion communication strategies has allowed her to foster international digital engagement and lead workshops that teach others to do the same. She is passionate about using social media and digital communications to share human stories that increase empathy and inspire positive change in the world.
She now works as the Social Media Manager for the English-speaking audience at The Genesis Prize Foundation. Jana’s work has taken her to different parts of the world. She worked for several years with AREWA24, a television station in Nigeria that bridges together the global Hausa-speaking diaspora on social media. She also worked as an international development journalist and published exciting online content to promote development work in Guatemala, Sierra Leone, India, Bolivia, Kenya, and Namibia. Additionally, she worked in multi-faith organizations such as Beliefnet where she traveled to Israel to report on Christian topics, and she even was part of a Christian band that was invited by the Lutheran Church of Ghana to tour for several months throughout Ghana.
Jana earned a Master’s Degree in International Development from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/Anthropology and Women’s Studies from West Virginia University.
